FAA Flying Club members, Mike Walpole and Tom Shalhoub, are on the way to the 2019 EAA AirVenture Oshkosh airshow in our Piper Cherokee Warrior! They are planning on participating in the Piper formation fly-in to Oshkosh which should be an “AirVenture” on its own.

Mike and Tom departed our home base at KHEF yesterday with several planned stops along the way to KOSH. As with most things in life, there have already been a few challenges to overcome. About a week before their scheduled departure, a crack was noticed in the Warrior’s spinner. Since finding spare parts on short notice is always a challenge, our aircraft is flying sans spinner! Yesterday, right before departure, Mike and Tom noticed a potential problem with the airplane’s alternator. So a quick run over to our maintenance provider and everything was checked out. Now today, during a stop-over in KPKB, they have a flat tire. All of these items are easy to overcome, but just add to the prep work that a good pilot has to do on a long cross-country flight.

While our members are on the way to #Oshkosh2019 we are going to keep everyone updated on their #airventure throughout the week. Keep checking back for updates!
